Casa Colette • Anacapri

Casa Colette, located in the historic center of Anacapri, a few steps from Piazza San Nicola, owes its name to the famous French writer Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette who bought it in 1915.
The residence, which is part of the eighteenth-century monastic complex of San Michele, still retains the charm of the island style unchanged.
The walls are white plastered with lime, the floors are original in majolica or terracotta, the barrel vaults and the patio with the ancient well gives access to the panoramic garden surrounded by high walls.
The property, of approximately 300 sq m on two levels, is made up of the main house on the upper floor with a magnificent panoramic terrace and various independent units on the ground floor which access the atrium and the marvelous colonnaded garden.

The main house
The main house opens onto a small hall which leads to the large bedroom with tiled fireplace, balcony and access to the panoramic terrace, the large bathroom with bathtub preceded by a corridor with built-in wardrobes and the sitting room with fireplace and balcony which leads to the panoramic study with access to the terrace and to the second bedroom with tiled fireplace and balcony. Outside, a large panoramic terrace from which part of the Gulf of Naples can be seen continues on the back up to the staircase leading to the roof from which you can admire the spectacular 360° view of Anacapri and the sea.Along the stairs leading to the ground floor there is a small guest bathroom.

The separate units
On the ground floor, the three units with independent entrance from the street overlook the courtyard adorned with an ancient stone well. The large kitchen with dining room with tiled oven and storage. The two-room apartment with sitting room, bedroom and bathroom. The apartment with sitting room, bedroom, two bathrooms and kitchen. The woven monogram “Colette de Jouvenel” is still present on the grilles of the external doors.
From the courtyard opens the wonderful garden, the heart of Casa Colette. Here is the studio flat with bathroom. The garden is closed, similar to that of the childhood home in Burgundy, protected by high walls, divided in two by a colonnade that leads to the windows through which the view of the sea is truly suggestive.
